James was admitted as a solicitor in the Supreme Court of Queensland in 2012 and Barrister in 2014.

James has worked as a lawyer for the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, Queensland Government Commissions of Inquiry, the Queensland Sentencing Information Service, Queensland Police Service and Legal Aid Queensland.

James appears regularly in the Magistrates, District and Supreme Courts of Queensland.

James practices in the areas of criminal law, domestic violence law, traffic law and regulatory offences.
